Yokohama/Radial Tire Event #1 registration now open!

Published by Karen Kraus, February 23, 2009

The registration for the first event (3/22 at Blue Crabs Stadium in
Waldorf) is now open : Click here to Register!
 $35 for SCCA members, $45
for non-members (includes a $10 temporary membership that can be used
for $15 off a yearly SCCA membership if used within 60 days of the
event).

Registration will close on 3/20, period. Don't bother asking (crying,
whining, etc.) after that. It doesn't look like we'll be doing the
late fee this year for people registering at the last second; we'll
just be closing registration two days before the event, and leaving
it at that.

I'm not sure about run groups, and that likely won't be set until
Tuesday's meeting. Right now, the talk is three runs groups (in order
to have a good worker pool and efficient run groups), to be set day-
of-event based on class entry.

The season subscription ($190 for all six events) will be open
through 3/20 as well. Season subscription registration is here :

Hope to see some of you there!

3/21 Evolution Performance Driving School--Challenge verision
Published by Sam  Strano, February 23, 2009

*****  Sam is the SCCA Solo Driver of the Year!  *******

Just a reminder that on March 21st Autocrossers Inc and Evolution Performance
Driving School are debuting the new lot in Waldorf with an Evo Challenge
School.

It's slowly filling, and I gather there are other things going on that day.  I
just wanted to drop a note about Evolution in general and this school in
particular.  This school is a Challenge School, it's intended for graduates of
Phase 1 and 2 levels and is exactly what the name implies.... a Challenge.  The
instructors are Pat Salerno, Sam Strano (that's me) and Tony Savini and Courtney
Cormier.  Amongst us you are looking at 8 National Championships and 5 ProSolo
Championships.

Why is it a challenge?  Because there is no more of this 80% stuff.  We drive
the cars like we'd compete in them and you have to step up to catch us.
Challenge schools are about trying to beat the folks you have to beat to win any
normal event... but this time you get to try it in your own car, with more than
just 3 or 4 runs, and with input from us.  But that's not all, we also have some
tricks we use to make your use your head (but those are for us to know and you
to find out about).

DC is not lacking for autocrossers, and if you look up and down results you'll
fine most every one that has been successful at a high level has been through at
least one Evo School, maybe even back when it was known as McKamey
Autocross
School like it was when I took it and was trained in 1997.  And it's not
coincidence that 1997 is when I won my first National events because I had my
eyes opened.

If you haven't been through Phase 1 and 2, then the Challenge School is like
trying to take Graduate level classes with a high-school diploma.  Evo wants to
put on Phase 1 and 2 schools as well, so if you are interested, let us know.
And if you've been through those Phases and want a push to start the year out
right--then think about the Challenge on 3/21.  The next day is AI's first
event, so you'll get to practice what you learned the day before.
